The Face Shop Jeju Aloe 99% Fresh Soothing Gel: REVIEW

For someone with combination skin, I thought that I did not need to apply moisturizer regularly because my face tends to get oily in certain areas. As I was browsing the web one day, I found out how important it was to put on moisturizers and so I began my quest to finding a good moisturizer for my skin and for the sunny weather of the Philippines. I’ve heard about the wonderful benefits of aloe vera gels and read a ton of great reviews online, so I decided to give it a try. A lot of reviews suggest the Nature Republic Aloe Vera Gel or the Face Shop Aloe Vera Gel. Since there are no Nature Republic Stores in Cebu that I know of, I went to get the one from the Face Shop.

I bought this huge tub of Aloe Vera Gel from The Face Shop last year (2016), and this June 2017 I was finally able to use it all up. I use it during the day as a light moisturizer, and every night as a moisturizer/sleeping mask. Sometimes, I also use it as a soothing gel for some mild burns and bruises. There’s so much product in the tub and I’m so glad that it lasted for a year.

The bottom portion of the tub lists the ingredients of the product along with the directions for use and product description. This aloe vera gel is multi-purpose — it can be used as a moisturizer, soothing gel, facial pack, and many others.

You can find the expiry date at the side of the tub. The one I got expires in 2019.

This huge tub of aloe vera gel costs Php 195. Sometimes, the Face Shop offers a buy 1 get 1 free promo for this product. If you’re as obsessed with this gel as I am, you must definitely look out for that promo and grab it as soon as you can because stocks run out really fast. (P.S. this is not a sponsored post! πŸ™‚ )

Once you open the tub, you will see another plastic lid, which I like because I find it more hygienic that way. It has that tiny handle to make it easier for you to pull the lid without making any mess.

The gel has a light consistency that spreads easily on the skin. It leaves my skin feeling refreshed with no sticky feeling.

In the morning, I only put in a small amount on my face. In the evening, I go all out and put it on like a sleeping mask to let my skin absorb the product overnight. It makes my skin so smooth and glowing once I wake up.

This is my first tub of aloe vera gel from the Face Shop, and I love this product so much that I’m almost running out!

Summary:

Price: 5/5 – Very affordable at Php195 for a huge tub of aloe vera that can last for more than a year.

Packaging: 4.5/5 – I find it a bit unhygienic to have a tub as a container for the gel, but I think that it would be okay as long as you use a spatula to get some product. The best thing about the packaging is that it allows you to really use up all of the product because you can easily grab the small amounts of gel left during desperate times when it’s out of stock in stores. ^.^

Texture & Fragrance: 4.5/5 – It smells good, but the scent does not last long on the skin (which I like). It is very lightweight and easy to apply.

As a moisturizer: 4.5/5 – I love how it leaves my skin feeling soft and glowing. It doesn’t give me any breakouts and I feel like it helps soothe those pimples on my face.

Repurchase? Definitely! I’m planning to buy my second tub very soon!
